At World Harvest Outreach Church, we have seen the blessings of God in the most remarkable ways. From supernatural favor to financial and material provision, God has been wonderfully faithful!

The Call
On the day before Easter in 1993, during a season of prayer, God spoke to Pastor John and revealed that He was calling him to return to his hometown of Austin, Texas to pastor a church. In November 1995, God separated Pastor John and Alison for the work that He had called them to, and they packed all of their belongings (including their new 6 week old daughter) into a moving truck and stepped out in faith, driving to Austin, Texas to obey God’s perfect will for their lives: pioneering World Harvest Outreach Church.

The First Service
World Harvest Outreach Church held its first service on Sunday, January 7, 1996 in the South Austin Recreation Center with 29 people (17 adults, 2 youth, 4 children, 3 preschoolers, and 3 babies) in attendance.

The Supernatural Supply
The beginnings of the church saw repeated confirmation that the hand of God was truly upon this new work. The Lord supernaturally opened many notable doors, and repeatedly showered us with His abundant provision. He even arranged supernatural advertising for us on many occasions! The following are a few of the wonderful ways that God showed Himself strong on our behalf when we started the church:

  1. Although upon the Larkam's arrival in Austin, they had no idea where they would start the church, God had already prepared a place, and somebody to receive them with open arms. The manager of the South Austin Recreation Center, where the church began, had received a prophetic word about World Harvest Outreach Church before she had even moved to Austin to take her new job as the manager. When God directed Pastor John to call to inquire if he could use the facility to start the church, she excitedly told him of the prophecy and welcomed the church with open arms and even asked Pastor John to speak at the recreation center's Spring Festival!
  2. Pastor John's telephone call to a local radio station requesting a brief public service announcement turned into the airing of a one hour, live interview with the manager interviewing Pastor John about the church. Several people came to the church as a result of hearing that interview!
  3. The Austin American Statesman featured a two-part article (Saturday and Sunday) on World Harvest Outreach Church that was printed on the front page of the newspaper with color photographs. Several people came to the church after reading the articles!
  4. The church received a one-hundredfold return ($5000.00) within twelve hours after Pastor John had obediently given their last $50.00 to God. The person that called to give them the money did not even know that they had sown their last $50.00. She simply saw the newspaper article, and called and said that God spoke to her heart to sow $5000.00 into the church. Then she began to prophecy that God would continue to provide and that Pastor John would not have to work a secular job while pioneering the church. She was right. God continued to abundantly provide, and Pastor John never had to take a secular job and work outside the church!
  5. Pastor John was asked by television evangelist Jesse Duplantis at his citywide "Celebrate Jesus with Jesse" rally to share with his audience of 2500 people, and his national television audience how God had provided a hundredfold return on their giving. Several people in that audience began to attend the church that following Sunday after they heard Pastor John testify!
  6. The church was given approximately $15,000 of audio equipment, including microphones, speakers, amplifiers and equalizers (and even a podium) by Oral Robert's great nephew when he heard of the church and all of the wonderful things that God was doing!

Almost a Year Later
On Sunday, December 1, 1996, with approximately seventy people, World Harvest Outreach Church moved into 8400 square feet of renovated space in the Cherry Creek Plaza, located at the southwest corner of Manchaca Road and Stassney Lane. With a better location and facilities, the church added new families every Sunday, and by the end of the month, attendance was already over 100 people.

As space bacame available, we leased additional square footage in the shopping center.  We first acquired space for a Children's Church adjacent to our main sanctuary, then space for a youth game room, and now a Youth and Children's Ministry Center.  The newly remodeled Youth and Children's Ministry Center allows us to effectively meet the needs of school age children and youth.  In addition to our nursery and preschool areas, we now provide age appropriate ministry for children (grades 1-5,) middle school youth (grade 6-9,) and high school youth (grades 9-12.)  Today, we lease approximately 15,000 square feet of sanctuary, classroom, office, and storage space and our Sunday service attendance averages 220 people a week.

The Bright Future
It is now time for World Harvest Outreach Church to make another move. It is time to acquire our own property and build our own buildings. It is time for us to drive a stake in the ground and proclaim our permanence to the greater Austin area. For the past several years, we have been operating at maximum capacity in our facilities and although we have continued to grow spiritually and financially, our numerical growth has been stunted by our location and the appearance and size of our current facilities. We have continued to lease additional space as it has become available, and we have done the best with what we have, but it is now time to develop our own church and ministry campus with our own permanent buildings.

Our mission is to reach Austin and its surrounding communities with the gospel of Jesus Christ and to make disciples of His Word. Our vision includes ministry to the entire family, radio and television programming to the greater Austin area, outreaches to the poor and homeless, evangelistic crusades and a Bible Training Center for those with ministry callings.
